Blackberry Storm underperforms

The Blackberry Storm was unable to surpass the iPhone in sales. And in addition to the disappointing launch, Research In Motion's shares have also dipped as a result.

I know of a few people who reported bugs in the Blackberry (including software glitches). RIM will need to fix this situation--fast!

I had trouble with it. But I still prefer the Blackberry to the iPhone.

I read they sold upwards of 1 million phones. I wouldn't classify that as a flop.

Did you know the Blackberry Storm costs more to make than the iPhone?

The Blackberry Storm costs more to make? Is that true off all Blackberrys. Maybe that's why analysts lowered its profit margins.

Well I'm a Blackberry kind of girl, so I hope they do remedy whatever bugs the phone may have and that the company does well this year.

No the problem is the cost to produce the Storm specifically. That's why some don't think it will be able to net high enough profits.

Say what you will about the Storm. Its sales were strong and it was one of the products that helped RIM become number 1 in the smartphone market.

Verizon is goin to launch an over-the-air software update for the Storm that should fix multiple bugs and will add a few features.

There's an interview online where the co-CEO defends the Storm, saying it's the first touch-screen device and suggesting that nobody gets it perfect the first time. But should that be the consumers' problem???

If Blackberry was investing as much money in advertising as the iphone is, it would totally dominate the market. The iphone is inferior in quality, but is trendier... reminds me of a lot of things in our society! The Storm is a great phone, except for a few glitches. It might not be the most user friendly some time, but so what. Once you spend the time to better know it, it is truly amazing!
